Lets Get 'er Done!!
I believe that transparency builds trust, fosters collaboration, and ensures that our government is truly representative of the people it serves. Citizens have a right to know how their government is making decisions and using their tax dollars. If elected, I vow to operate with transparency and openness in all aspects of my duties as a City Council member. This means:
Financial Disclosure: I will provide detailed financial information, including campaign contributions and expenditures, and will advocate for stronger financial disclosure laws for all city officials.
Ethics and Conflicts of Interest: I will adhere to the highest ethical standards, avoiding conflicts of interest and disclosing any potential conflicts that may arise.
Data-Driven Decision Making: I will advocate for the use of data and evidence-based decision making, ensuring that policy decisions are informed by objective analysis and not driven by personal or political interests.
Fiscal Responsibility: I will make fiscally responsible decisions that align with the city's budget and priorities, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are used efficiently and effectively.
Accountability and Oversight: I will hold myself and other city officials accountable for their actions, and will work to strengthen oversight mechanisms to prevent abuse of power and ensure that city government is working effectively and efficiently.
I understand that accountability is not just about making promises, but also about being responsible for my actions. If I fail to meet these commitments, I will:
Danny Heikkinen
“Well-intentioned, genuine, selfless, active listener, caring, and someone who wears their heart on their sleeve are all attributes you can expect from Danny Heikkinen. He is a person who puts the best interest of the people he cares about even before himself. I wholeheartedly believe that he has the knowledge, the compassion, and an action plan to make a difference in the community and he will be a distinct candidate for the job."

"He displays an extremely high degree of integrity. I observed the respect and professionalism in which he treats his staff, which speaks to his character. In a volunteer capacity, his pragmatic approach to working in a group environment was invaluable to the team. His commonsense approach to tackling challenges was a breath of fresh air. Daniel is a true leader, one who plays well with the team, and contributes to getting things done right. Daniel is a man of character and a man that I am privileged to endorse "

When he told me he was running for City Council I was thrilled because I couldn’t think of any better person for the job. "I first met Danny when I first arrived in Canada 18 years ago. I own a Painting and Decorating Company and at that time he was the manager of our local Sherwin Williams Store. Top of the line kind of guy, down to earth, incredibly knowledgeable, relatable, dedicated to his craft and more importantly to all his clients who he treated like friends.
When Danny opened his own Benjamin Store, he took his level of dedication and service to a whole new level. Always available, always dependable and always present and when you really need him to come through, ALWAYS THERE!
I have come to count him now as a friend and he has set the bar for exceptional service that EVERYONE can expect from him, extremely high! Just a salt of the Earth guy who you can rely on and that is pretty rare these days!”
~Gary Duggins, Gary Duggins Painting & Decorating Ltd.
"My dad adopted me 6 years ago when my mom moved me in with them. It took me awhile, but I think I like him...sometimes. He squishes and kisses me too much and reminds me of Elmyra (from Tiny Tunes). I get my revenge by waking him up at all hours of the night. Anyways, he does play with me and shows me off to everyone he meets cuz I'm his phone screensaver, so that's cool. He listens when I tell him about my day watching Edgar (the squirrel) or he acknowledges my complaints about the village crow. He's very protective of me and doesn't let me roam outside because he says a coyote might eat me. That's fair I guess, I know he loves me. All in all, I couldn't ask for a better cat-dad."
